“the hotter it is, you know the harder it gets”

April 23, 2009

We’re getting wisps of summer here. But i’m going to ignore them and focus instead on the fact that we (seem to have) stopped getting wisps of winter every time we thought it was spring.

And, in lieu of dreading summer — things i love about this time of year:

Im a bit late on this one; the azaleas are kind of petering out. I dont know anything about flowers, so it may be untrue, but azaleas are so quintessentially Southern to me, which is why i love them so.

I'm a bit late on this one; the azaleas are kind of petering out. Azaleas are so quintessentially Southern to me (i don't know anything about flowers, so that may be untrue, but it doesn't really matter). They are also the only living plants in our front yard (or, i'm trying to make that true, right now there's poison ivy as well).

i really always wanted dogwoods to be my favorite tree (i have no idea where that came from), but it was hard to justify when id never seen one. Now we have one off our back porch, and all my longing has been completely fulfilled. It is absolutely the best tree ever.

Skirts and sandals! No tights or knee-socks (which i do like, but am simply tired of).
And my new sandals (which are not those, but kind of equally simple and black) are fantastically comfy.

And – i don’t have a photo for this one – Jamie in her new white t-shirt.
