“We will rise above the cares of tomorrow”
Holy fucking hell! Sorry, this kind of thing requires a little profanity. Hurry up, January, we need a new President!
I realized, when Obama started his acceptance speech, that i hadn’t actuallyany believed this was going to happen. All evidence aside, after 2004 i couldn’t really believe it would come through. I was terrified when CNN called it for Obama. I was thrilled, and cheered like crazy with everyone else, but i couldn’t help but wonder that they were calling states with 0% reporting. None. Like, “hey, we haven’t actually looked at any ballots, but don’t worry, he totally won.” Umm. And, remember when Kerry was going to win Ohio? Yeah, me too. I, clearly, have deep scars from 2004, so i was wary.
But then McCain conceded. And, holy shit, it’s really happening! (Aside: if McCain had given speeches like his concession speech during the race this would have been a much closer election!) And then the acceptance speech, and it sunk in. And i was giddy. So much that even my friends, who were in full celebration, were amused by my excitement.
Now i feel a little bipolar. I’m walking on air on this president thing (and the House and Senate ain’t looking bad neither). But i’m mad. Mostly, i’m mad about my state, so i won’t go into it too much. I will say that voter turnout here was almost as low as 2006. Which was not a Presidential election. Which means that everything down-ticket from the president was fucked here. Fucked. And it’s totally everyone’s fault. So, Lady Brett Land, fuck you. Fuck all y’all.
And, in case you hadn’t heard, Arizona, Florida and California all passed their marriage bans. Arkansas passed its adoption ban. That is, to me, much more important than marriage. It’s just sick that people would be willing to ruin kids lives for the sake of their stupid fucking anti-“the gay” political agenda!
Oh, by the way, we have a new President (Elect)! Just dwell on that for a minute…
