“i knew when you was born you’d end up snakebit like me”

October 5, 2007

Oh my.  I just discovered Mary Gauthier.  I’ve heard of her before, and maybe even heard some of her music in passing.  Reminiscent of Lucinda, she has that voice that reaches right inside you; that you can feel in the pit of your stomach and other, less appropriate places.  This is the music that could easily make me sickly listless, and enjoy the feeling.  There are segments of nearly all or her songs on her website (linked below).  Listening to her newest album, i found myself staring, mouth ajar, at my computer, as if simply listening wouldn’t do.  It’s basically aural sex – and it’s a short list of artists i’ll elevate to that.marygauthier.jpgmarygauthier.jpgmarygauthier.jpg
